In a small corner at the London Craft Fair I discovered a treasure. I couldn't take my eyes from Stuart Akroyd's pieces of work. Inspired by natural forms, he has been playing with glass for more then 20 years, reaching a high level of understanding in his practice. I hope I'll do the same in my field of work.

Walking around the galleries I encountered at London Craft Fair small "fairies" ready to make my wishes come true. Two did came true. One was to meet such lovely little creatures, remarkable work with care for detail done by Samantha Bryan, and the second I keep it for myself.

Sonia Guzzo told me at the London Craft Fair that her work was inspired by sea shells. She is very creative in finding solution for designing fashion accesories, such as bags.

At the entrance to the west building stands The Guardian, a 2.2 metres (7 ft) tall bronze sculpture of a turning bull. It was created by Laurence Broderick and has become a very popular photographic feature for visitors to Birmingham. The statue was vandalised in 2005 requiring that it be removed for repairs, but was returned to its spot again later that year. The sculptor has given his support to calls for the statue to be renamed "Brummie the Bull".
